EFG Hermes is expanding access to technology-driven investing in Egypt with the launch of Younit, a platform designed to bring algorithmic trading capabilities to individual investors through API-based services.

The initiative, introduced by the investment bank, a subsidiary of EFG Holding, makes its trading infrastructure available to a broader audience through the EFG Hermes ONE application. Retail investors, software developers and university students can use the platform to access market information, automate trading strategies, test investment models and create digital tools connected to financial markets.

The launch reflects a broader effort to make advanced trading technology more accessible beyond institutional investors and encourage greater participation in Egypt’s capital market.

Making Automated Trading More Accessible

Younit provides users with access to a Trading API and Software Development Kit (SDK), allowing them to develop and test their own trading applications using EFG Hermes’ infrastructure.

Individual investors can create automated strategies based on predefined rules, assess their performance against historical market data and use conditional order execution features. The platform also offers tools for portfolio analysis and visualisation, helping users monitor their investment positions.

For developers, the available infrastructure creates opportunities to build customised trading strategies, analytical dashboards, securities basket solutions and other applications tailored to financial market needs.

Ahmed Waly: A New Model for Retail Market Participation

Ahmed Waly, Head of Securities Brokerage at EFG Hermes, said the platform is intended to change how individual investors and developers interact with financial markets in Egypt and the wider Middle East and North Africa region.

He explained that advanced trading infrastructure has traditionally been concentrated among institutional players. Younit aims to broaden access to these capabilities by bringing together market data, automation tools, APIs, SDKs and analytical resources.

According to Waly, the initiative is designed to help market participants adopt more structured and data-based approaches rather than relying solely on reactions to market movements.

Connecting University Talent with Real Market Applications

The platform also targets students and emerging technology talent by creating opportunities to apply academic knowledge to practical financial market projects.

Through Younit, university participants can develop trading-related tools, compete in practical challenges and gain experience that may support their future career development.

EFG Hermes plans to build an active ecosystem around the platform through hackathons, competitions, university challenges and summer internship programmes. Performance-based rankings will also give participants an opportunity to track their progress.

New Capabilities for EFG Hermes ONE Users

The launch is expected to broaden the services available through EFG Hermes ONE, adding more advanced trading functions and analytical capabilities to the application’s existing digital environment.

It also aligns with efforts to support the modernisation of Egypt’s capital market by giving retail investors and technology developers access to tools that can encourage more informed participation in listed equities.

EFG Holding Focuses on Data Science and Innovation

Rana El Sharkawy, Head of Data Science and Corporate Analytics at EFG Holding, said Younit provides a practical environment where algorithmic trading ideas can be tested, evaluated and improved.

She highlighted the role of market data, performance measurement tools, APIs and community challenges in helping users turn theoretical strategies into working applications. The company also aims to encourage collaboration among traders, developers and students across the region.

Ahmed Raslan, Head of the Data Science Team at EFG Holding, described the platform as an opportunity for Egyptian innovators to work with real market infrastructure and develop new applications. He expressed the company’s interest in building the initiative alongside local developers and university talent.

Supporting the Long-Term Growth of Retail Trading

EFG Hermes expects broader access to advanced trading technology to encourage more investors to participate in the market and contribute to the development of retail trading activity over time.

By combining automated trading tools, software development capabilities and educational initiatives, Younit seeks to create new opportunities for individuals to engage with financial markets while supporting innovation across Egypt’s investment ecosystem.
