Dell”s $95 Billion Order Pipeline Underscores Growing Demand for AI-Driven Technology
Dell Technologies is seeing substantial demand for its technology offerings, with open orders reaching $95 billion in the latest quarter discussed by Mohamed El-Zomor, the company's general manager in Egypt.
Addressing the preparatory conference for Cairo ICT, El-Zomor discussed the changing priorities of global enterprises as artificial intelligence moves from a technology trend to a practical business tool. He stressed that organizations are now looking beyond experimentation and focusing on how AI can improve their day-to-day operations.
The $95 billion figure covers open orders and does not include infrastructure orders, he explained.
Agentic AI Becomes the Next Enterprise Focus
A major development in the sector is the growing shift from generative AI to agentic AI. While generative systems are primarily associated with producing content and responding to prompts, agentic AI can handle sequences of tasks, pursue specific objectives and make decisions as part of a defined workflow.
El-Zomor said this evolution represents a significant change in the way companies use intelligent systems. The priority is increasingly to identify business problems that AI can solve and measure the value it delivers, rather than simply introducing new tools.
A Quarter-Century of Dell's Presence in Egypt
The event also provided an opportunity to mark Dell Technologies' 25 years in Egypt. El-Zomor emphasized the company's long-term commitment to the local market, including its role in sharing technical expertise and helping develop the skills needed by the country's technology workforce.
He pointed to the 2017 merger of Dell and EMC as the milestone that created Dell Technologies. The company has continued to take part in Cairo ICT since then and has been an official sponsor for more than nine years.
Company Market Capitalization Quadruples
El-Zomor further revealed that Dell Technologies' market capitalization had grown fourfold in less than nine years, alongside the $95 billion in open orders reported for the quarter.
He said the figures reflect the growing scale of technology-related investment, particularly as demand for AI solutions expands. Businesses are now placing greater emphasis on deploying these technologies in real operating environments and assessing their contribution to productivity and business performance.
Egypt Seeks a Larger Role in Global Technology
Commenting on Cairo ICT's 30th edition, El-Zomor described the exhibition's continued organization as an important contribution to Egypt's technology ecosystem. He praised Osama Kamal and the organizing team for maintaining the event and expanding its focus to include emerging fields such as artificial intelligence.
He also pointed to an important opportunity for Egypt to increase its presence in the international technology industry. Making the most of this opportunity, he said, will require timely action and continued efforts to translate the country's potential into tangible progress.
