Orange Egypt is entering a new phase of technological excellence by capitalizing on its advanced infrastructure and young talents to develop innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence and data processing, aiming to export these technologies to 17 African countries where the group operates.

In this context, Mohamed Shebl, Vice President of the Enterprise Business Unit at Orange Egypt, confirmed during his speech at the preparatory conference for Cairo ICT that the exhibition has become a regional platform bringing together technology industry leaders to showcase the latest global innovations locally. He highlighted the radical shifts the sector has witnessed, focusing on cybersecurity, AI, and sustainability.

Capitalizing on Human Capital and Advancing Cybersecurity Expertise

Shebl explained that Egypt possesses a unique competitive advantage in its young human capital and its rapid capability to adapt to digital developments. While discussions years ago were limited to mitigating global cyberattacks and protecting local data, Egypt has since built a solid foundation of specialized talents with advanced cybersecurity expertise, overcoming skill shortages and training a new generation capable of handling complex digital threats.

Data Centers and AI: Engines of Economic Growth

The VP of Enterprise Business highlighted the importance of expanding data center construction, describing them as "factories for digital solutions" and the essential infrastructure for powering AI applications, especially given the massive global investments expected in this field through 2030. He noted that modern tools have shifted the competitive landscape, enabling developers to complete tasks in far less time and direct more effort toward innovation.

A Promising Egyptian Data Processing Model Exported to Africa

Shebl revealed that Orange Egypt has been working for nearly four years to build specialized data quality solutions, alongside developing a data processing model based on open-source technologies and local Egyptian talent over the past three years. Work is currently underway to export this model to 17 African nations, reflecting the ability of local teams to build digital products suitable for diverse markets.

Smart Solutions for Healthcare, Banking, and Education

The company’s future strategy goes beyond general data processing solutions to build specialized applications tailored to vital sectors such as healthcare, banking, and education. Shebl emphasized that consolidating data in the health sector, for instance, provides physicians with comprehensive insights to improve diagnostic accuracy, stressing that data organization and governance are essential first steps before building any AI applications.

From Consumption to Export: Egypt’s Technological Vision

Shebl concluded by encouraging the use of AI tools to enable youth to enter the tech development field more quickly and efficiently. He noted that while AI significantly accelerates programming tasks, it does not replace the developer, who remains responsible for thinking, innovating, and turning ideas into usable products. He underscored that the ultimate goal is to transform Egypt from a consumer of digital solutions into a regional hub for producing and exporting technology.
