Microsoft and Ericsson Integrate Advanced Enterprise 5G Management into Windows 11

Microsoft and Ericsson have announced a major advancement in enterprise mobility through the direct integration of advanced 5G management capabilities into Windows 11. The joint solution enables enterprises to deploy always-connected, secure, and policy-driven 5G laptops that are easy to manage remotely at scale.

At the core of the solution is the integration of Microsoft Intune with Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect, an AI- and cloud-analytics-powered platform that continuously monitors network conditions and dynamically optimizes connectivity for performance, reliability, and security. By embedding AI-driven 5G intelligence directly into Windows 11, IT teams can automate device connectivity, seamlessly switch between communications service providers (CSPs), and apply enterprise policies without manual intervention.

Through centralized management, organizations can enforce consistent security and connectivity profiles across all 5G-enabled laptops, ensuring compliant and reliable user experiences regardless of location. This approach eliminates traditional challenges associated with cellular-connected PCs, reduces IT operational overhead, and provides enterprises with a predictable pathway to modern, cloud-integrated mobility.

The solution builds on Microsoft and Ericsson’s long-standing collaboration and follows successful multi-market pilots. Enterprise 5G bundles—combining Surface Copilot+ PCs, Microsoft 365, Intune, and Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect—will be rolled out in collaboration with leading CSPs, with broad availability expected from the second quarter of 2026.

The companies will also showcase the solution at MWC Barcelona 2026, offering insights into future capabilities such as automated eSIM switching, remote prioritization of 5G networks, and on-device AI agents enabling real-time, context-aware connectivity decisions.
