Egypt’s ICT Minister Heads to India for AI Impact Summit 2026

Eng. Rafat Hindi, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, departed Cairo today for New Delhi, India, for a three-day visit to participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026. The summit brings together world leaders, government officials, top tech companies, AI specialists, international organizations, investors, innovators, and researchers, totaling around 250,000 participants.

The summit, held for the first time in a Global South country, aims to develop a global roadmap for AI governance, promote collaboration to harness AI for human benefit, drive inclusive growth, enhance social development, and support human-centric, environmentally conscious innovations. It also seeks to amplify the voice of Global South nations to ensure a fairer distribution of technological progress and related opportunities.

The event focuses on three pillars: People, Planet, and Progress, providing a platform for multilateral initiatives, setting priorities, and developing actionable cooperation frameworks to translate high-level political discussions into tangible AI outcomes.

Egypt’s participation reflects the Ministry’s commitment to strengthen its role in shaping advanced technology policy, particularly AI governance, as Egypt co-chairs the AI Resource Democracy Working Group during the summit.
