NBE Recognized for Excellence in Sustainable Transaction Banking in Egypt

The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has earned the Euromoney 2025 Award for Egypt’s Best Sustainable Transaction Banking Deal, acknowledging its leadership in financing environmentally and socially responsible projects.

The award was granted for NBE’s innovative financing of the Giza Zoo and Orman Garden redevelopment projects, combining sustainability standards with green design, energy efficiency, and biodiversity protection. This recognition came after strong competition from leading regional and international banks.

Mohamed El-Etreby, NBE CEO, stated: “Sustainable finance is at the core of our strategy. This award confirms our commitment to responsible economic growth, environmental preservation, and community development.”

Soha El-Turki, Executive VP, added that the bank has implemented sustainable finance policies in line with the Central Bank of Egypt, providing training to staff on integrating environmental and social considerations throughout the financing process.

The award underlines NBE’s ability to provide innovative green financing solutions, and the bank is actively expanding its portfolio to include projects in renewable energy, water management, and sustainable infrastructure, ensuring long-term positive impact for society, the economy, and the environment.

Sherif Riad, Executive Director of Corporate & Syndicated Loans, noted that teamwork across departments was crucial to success, demonstrating NBE’s commitment to international ESG standards.
