The US dollar exchange rate moved higher against the Egyptian pound during trading on Monday, September 28, 2026, reaching a peak of EGP 51.85 for buying and EGP 51.95 for selling. Rates advanced across 16 banks, held steady in four, and edged lower in three, according to the latest banking data available at the time of reporting.

Crédit Agricole, Kuwait Finance House (KFH), and Suez Canal Bank posted the highest rates, quoting the greenback at EGP 51.85 for buying and EGP 51.95 for selling, with all three institutions posting gains. Société Arabe Internationale de Banque (saib) followed closely at EGP 51.83 for buying and EGP 51.93 for selling. Bank of Alexandria posted EGP 51.82 for buying and EGP 51.92 for selling, while Arab African International Bank (AAIB) quoted EGP 51.81 for buying and EGP 51.91 for selling.

At state-owned and major commercial lenders—including National Bank of Egypt (NBE), Banque Misr, Arab International Bank (AIB), and Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK)—the dollar climbed to EGP 51.79 for buying and EGP 51.89 for selling, up from their previous close. First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) also posted higher rates, quoting EGP 51.78 for buying and EGP 51.88 for selling.

The greenback rose to EGP 51.75 for buying and EGP 51.85 for selling at Al Baraka Bank and The United Bank. Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) bucked the upward trend, easing to EGP 51.68 for buying and EGP 51.78 for selling. Bank NXT and National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) rose to match those same levels at EGP 51.68 for buying and EGP 51.78 for selling.

Rates held flat across several institutions: Commercial International Bank (CIB) and Egyptian Gulf Bank (EGBANK) remained unchanged at EGP 51.66 for buying and EGP 51.76 for selling, while Housing & Development Bank (HDB) held steady at EGP 51.65 for buying and EGP 51.75 for selling.

On the losing side, the dollar softened at Industrial Development Bank (IDB) to EGP 51.62 for buying and EGP 51.72 for selling, and slipped at the Egyptian Arab Land Bank (EALB) to EGP 51.60 for buying and EGP 51.70 for selling. HSBC Egypt held steady at EGP 51.53 for buying and EGP 51.63 for selling, marking the lowest quote among surveyed banks.

Overall, buying rates across local lenders ranged between EGP 51.53 and EGP 51.85, while selling rates fluctuated between EGP 51.63 and EGP 51.95. The spread between the highest and lowest quotes across the banking sector stood at 32 piasters for both buying and selling rates.
