Central Bank of Egypt Keeps Interest Rates Unchanged; Dollar Exchange Rates Update
The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) decided last Thursday to keep its key macroeconomic interest rates unchanged.
The CBE maintained the overnight deposit rate, overnight lending rate, and the rate of the main operation at 19.00%, 20.00%, and 19.50%, respectively. Additionally, the committee decided to keep the discount rate unchanged at 19.50%.
The Central Bank stated that this decision was based on the committee’s evaluation of recent inflation developments and forecasts, alongside an assessment of the shifting risks surrounding the inflation trajectory.
**US Dollar to Egyptian Pound Exchange Rates**
Below is the latest update on the US dollar exchange rates against the Egyptian pound, reflecting recent data issued by Egypt's public and private banks.
According to CBE data, the US dollar stood at EGP 51.73 for buying and EGP 51.83 for selling at the time of reporting. Overall, the Egyptian pound saw a slight depreciation against the greenback in recent trading across domestic banks and exchange bureaus.
