The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Egypt, has launched a new initiative aimed at advancing the inclusion of people with disabilities across Egypt’s information and communications technology (ICT) sector.

The initiative brings together 14 local and international technology companies, along with experts, professionals, and people with disabilities, to identify workplace challenges and develop practical solutions that support more inclusive employment environments.

The collaboration will lead to the development of an “ICT Inclusion Playbook,” designed to provide companies with practical guidelines and tools for recruiting, supporting, developing, and retaining employees with disabilities.

The initiative was launched during an event held at ITIDA’s headquarters in Smart Village, attended by ITIDA CEO Ahmed Elzaher, GIZ Egypt representatives, Fit for Life CEO and lead consultant Khaled Habib, as well as representatives from the participating companies.

The participating companies include Brightskies, CrocoIT, DVIT, DXC, Fingerprint, Foundever, IBM, Microsoft, NTG, Orange Business, Raya IT, Sutherland, VOIS, and Xceed.

Elzaher highlighted equal opportunities and social responsibility as key elements of ITIDA’s efforts to empower people with disabilities and increase their participation in the ICT workforce. He also noted that inclusive workplaces can help companies access a broader pool of talent and skills.

The initiative will include 15 workshops and interactive sessions covering areas such as recruitment, workplace accessibility, skills development, impact measurement, evaluation indicators, and a phased implementation roadmap.

The final playbook is expected to be published on ITIDA’s website and shared with ICT companies and institutions as a practical reference for developing disability-inclusive workplace practices.

The initiative is part of the partnership between ITIDA and GIZ Egypt under the develoPPP program, funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), which supports private-sector partnerships aimed at developing practical solutions for greater inclusion in the labor market and

digital economy.
