Velocity Closes Series A at $48M with Additional $10M Backing from Visa, Ripple, and Circle
Velocity, a specialized platform for stablecoin payments and treasury management, has secured an additional $10 million to close its Series A funding round at $48 million. Following an initial $38 million raise last month, this extension brings in a consortium of strategic heavyweights, including Visa Ventures, Circle Ventures, Ripple, Haun Ventures, Translink Capital, and Mirana Ventures.
The fresh capital will be deployed to scale Velocity’s enterprise-grade stablecoin infrastructure, which is designed to seamlessly serve global card issuers, acquirers, payment service providers (PSPs), financial institutions, and merchants.
Platform Utility and Core Capabilities
Velocity operates at the intersection of regulated stablecoins and traditional financial infrastructure. The platform allows enterprise CFOs and treasury teams to integrate stablecoins into their daily operations without needing to rip and replace existing legacy systems. Key benefits include:
24/7 Liquidity & Settlement: Enables continuous global settlement outside of traditional banking hours, streamlining money movement.
Capital Efficiency: Drastically reduces the reliance on pre-funded accounts and frees up trapped capital across international borders.
Risk Mitigation: Helps financial teams minimize foreign exchange (FX) complexities and enhances real-time visibility into global cash flows.
Strategic Value of the Investor Syndicate
The composition of Velocity’s Series A investors reflects a broader industry pivot toward building the foundational infrastructure that links digital assets directly to legacy banking and treasury operations.
Visa Ventures: Rubail Birwadker, Global Head of Growth and Strategic Partnerships at Visa, noted that stablecoins are fundamentally reshaping value movement within the Visa ecosystem, positioning Velocity as a key accelerator for institutional adoption. CEO Eric Queathem echoed this, highlighting Visa's invaluable expertise in optimizing payment flows.
Circle Ventures & Ripple: The inclusion of these two entities aligns Velocity with leading architects of regulated stablecoins and blockchain-based liquidity, enhancing the platform's utility in corporate finance.
Haun Ventures: Bringing deep fintech infrastructure experience (having previously backed Bridge and BVNK), Haun Ventures Partner Chris Ahn emphasized that stablecoins have evolved beyond fast transactions to become a core foundational layer of the global financial system.
Translink Capital: Provides a strategic gateway to scale Velocity’s corporate and institutional partnerships across Asian markets.
