Trump Media Launches ”Truth API” to Monetize Presidential Posts Amid Calls for SEC Probe

Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, has officially launched its new data service, "Truth API." This paid service targets financial institutions and investment firms by providing direct, real-time access to the posts of U.S. President Donald Trump and other highly influential accounts on the platform. The move is a strategic bet by the company to generate a highly profitable and recurring revenue stream.

The new service offers subscribers a licensed, real-time feed of Truth Social posts, empowering financial institutions, investment funds, and trading firms with a greater ability to monitor market-moving posts and make faster investment decisions.

The company is capitalizing on the fact that Trump's posts have become major market drivers in recent years. He frequently utilizes his account to announce political and economic decisions before any other channels, including foreign policy updates and geopolitical crises. This gives these posts particular significance for investors and market participants.

Boasting over 13 million followers, the @realDonaldTrump account is the largest on Truth Social, making it the most followed and influential source on the platform. Meanwhile, the Trump family remains the largest shareholder in Trump Media, further amplifying the significance of the new service for investors.

The company confirmed that the Truth API provides a direct and instantaneous stream of the most market-impactful posts. This initiative falls under a broader strategy aimed at maximizing the commercialization of its digital assets and transforming them into a sustainable revenue source based on subscriptions and paid services.

However, the launch comes amid mounting political controversy. U.S. Senators Adam Schiff and Elizabeth Warren have called on the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to open an investigation into the new service. They argue that it could give certain financial institutions an unfair advantage in accessing market-moving information ahead of others.

The senators stated that the service raises concerns about an uneven playing field among investors and the potential exploitation of the presidential office for private financial gain. They urged the regulatory body to verify the service's compliance with financial market regulations.

In contrast, the SEC has yet to issue any official comment regarding these demands. Meanwhile, Trump Media proceeded with the launch according to its announced schedule. The company is actively seeking to diversify its revenue streams away from advertising by expanding the sale of data services and digital subscriptions to financial institutions and investors.
