Suez Canal Bank Partners with Sonaa El Khair Foundation to Launch “Aish wa Malh” Ramadan Initiative
As part of its commitment to social solidarity and community responsibility, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and under the auspices of the Central Administration for Corporate Social Responsibility at the Central Bank of Egypt, Suez Canal Bank has signed a cooperation protocol with the Sonaa El Khair Foundation to participate in the “Aish wa Malh” initiative, one of the largest food aid campaigns during Ramadan. The initiative aims to provide 200,000 meals to underprivileged families across four villages—Mazghouna, Dahshour, Al-Tarfaya, and Al-Shobak—in the Badrashin district of Giza Governorate.
The protocol was signed by Nour El-Zeiny, Head of Financial Inclusion, Corporate Communications, and CSR at Suez Canal Bank, and Eng. Ahmed Mousa, CEO of Sonaa El Khair Foundation, in the presence of several dignitaries, including Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity; Ambassador Nabila Makram, Head of the National Secretariat for Developmental Civil Work; Gen. Mohsen El-Nemany, Chairman of Sonaa El Khair; former Minister Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama; Dr. Ayman Abdel-Mawgoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity; and Mr. Mostafa Ezz Al-Arab, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, along with other public figures, civil society leaders, and NGO representatives.
The “Aish wa Malh” initiative represents a fully integrated model of cooperation among civil society organizations, the banking sector, government institutions, and volunteers, reflecting the spirit of solidarity within the community, especially during Ramadan.
The initiative also encourages small businesses and restaurants to contribute extra meals under the “Suspended Meal” campaign. Around 500 restaurants are participating, each providing meals for families in need. Through this collaborative effort, the campaign has delivered more than 2.3 million meals, with the support of over 22,000 volunteers helping to prepare, organize, and distribute them.
In addition, Suez Canal Bank organized a volunteer day for employees to distribute meals in Mazghouna village, demonstrating its commitment to promoting a culture of volunteering and community participation, while bringing joy to underprivileged families during the holy month.
Nour El-Zeiny emphasized that the bank’s participation in the initiative reflects its belief in promoting solidarity and social cohesion, noting that the role of financial institutions extends beyond banking services to improving quality of life and meeting the needs of vulnerable groups, contributing to the social protection system in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and the Central Bank of Egypt.
