Under the Patronage of the Central Bank of Egypt: Suez Canal Bank Partners with Life Makers Egypt to Provide 200,000 Ramadan Meals in Giza

Under the patronage of the Central Bank of Egypt, Suez Canal Bank has signed a cooperation protocol with Life Makers Egypt Foundation to support the “Aish wa Malh” (Bread and Salt) initiative, one of the largest Ramadan food campaigns in Egypt.

The initiative aims to provide 200,000 meals to underprivileged families across four villages—Mazghouna, Dahshour, Al-Tarfaya, and Al-Shoubak—in the Al-Badrashin district of Giza during the holy month of Ramadan.

The protocol was signed by Nour El-Zeiny, Head of Financial Inclusion, Corporate Communications, and Corporate Social Responsibility at Suez Canal Bank, and Eng. Ahmed Moussa, CEO of Life Makers Egypt Foundation.

The signing ceremony was attended by several prominent officials and public figures, including Maya Morsy, Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Nabila Makram, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work, and Mohsen El-Nomany, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Life Makers, along with other representatives from government institutions, civil society organizations, and community leaders.

The “Aish wa Malh” initiative represents a collaborative model that brings together civil society organizations, the banking sector, government entities, and volunteers to promote social solidarity during Ramadan.

The initiative also involves restaurants and microbusinesses through the “Suspended Meal” concept, encouraging them to donate an additional meal for those in need. Around 500 restaurants participate in the campaign.

As a result of this collaborative effort, the initiative has successfully distributed over 2.3 million meals to families in need, supported by more than 22,000 volunteers from across Egypt who assist in preparing, organizing, and distributing the meals.

As part of its corporate social responsibility activities, Suez Canal Bank also organized a volunteer day for its employees to participate in meal distribution in Mazghouna village in Al-Badrashin, reflecting the bank’s commitment to promoting volunteerism and community engagement.

Nour El-Zeiny emphasized that the bank’s participation reflects its strong belief in strengthening social solidarity and improving the quality of life for vulnerable communities. She noted that financial institutions play a broader role beyond banking services by contributing to social development and supporting national goals aligned with Egypt Vision 2030.

For his part, Eng. Ahmed Moussa stated that the initiative represents a successful model of civil society collaboration, mobilizing community resources and partnerships between banks, government entities, private sector organizations, and volunteers to support the most vulnerable groups during Ramadan.

At the conclusion of the event, Nour El-Zeiny received a recognition award from Life Makers Egypt in appreciation of the bank’s contribution to the initiative and its ongoing efforts in corporate social responsibility.
