US Dollar Holds Steady Against Egyptian Pound on Thursday, September 4, 2025

The US dollar maintained stability against the Egyptian pound during Thursday’s trading, with the greenback holding at EGP 48.50 for buying and EGP 48.60 for selling at the National Bank of Egypt, according to the bank’s latest updates.

Across the banking sector, the dollar was quoted within a narrow range of EGP 48.50–48.60 for buying and EGP 48.75–48.85 for selling.

Among the higher rates, the Export Development Bank of Egypt and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) both posted a peak buying price of EGP 48.75 and a selling price of EGP 48.85.

Meanwhile, several major state-owned banks, including the National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, and Bank of Alexandria, kept their rates unchanged at EGP 48.55 for buying and EGP 48.65 for selling. Bank of Cairo offered slightly lower levels at EGP 48.40 and EGP 48.50, while MidBank listed the dollar at EGP 48.38 for buying and EGP 48.48 for selling.

Private and Foreign Banks
Private and foreign banks showed marginal variations in their quotes. ADIB priced the dollar at EGP 48.68 for buying and EGP 48.87 for selling. The Commercial International Bank (CIB) and Suez Canal Bank both aligned with state lenders, offering EGP 48.55 for buying and EGP 48.65 for selling.

Exchange Companies
In Egypt’s exchange companies, the dollar was trading at around EGP 48.50 for buying and EGP 48.60 for selling, broadly matching the official rates.
