Egyptian Parliament to Review Key Egypt Post–UPU International Agreement

Next Monday, the House of Representatives' Communications and Information Technology Committee, led by MP Ahmed Badawi, will examine Presidential Decree No. 251 of 2026. The decree endorses Annex (1) of the joint cooperation agreement signed on November 27, 2025, between Egypt Post and the Universal Postal Union (UPU). The meeting will take place alongside the Foreign Affairs, Economic Affairs, and Defense and National Security committees.

Assessing Obligations and Modernizing Postal Infrastructure

The joint session focuses on dissecting the agreement's terms to ensure seamless implementation. Lawmakers aim to evaluate all technical commitments and measure their tangible impact on advancing Egypt's domestic postal services.

Strengthening Global Connectivity and Logistics Capabilities

The review highlights Egypt Post’s strategic position as a core provider of financial, postal, and logistics services. Aligning with UPU standards enables deeper integration with global postal networks and streamlines international cross-border operations.

Analyzing Economic Factors for Parliamentary Approval

Discussions will address the financial and technical aspects of the protocol based on each committee's authority. This analysis will guide the preparation of the final report needed to complete ratification procedures.
