Partnership Between Alexandria Port Authority, Hassan Allam, and Al Tariq Capital to Establish a Global Logistics Hub in Dekheila
Developing a Logistics Hinterland Spanning Over 273,000 Square Meters
The Alexandria Port Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with "Hassan Allam Utilities" and "Al Tariq Capital for Real Estate Asset Management" to conduct studies for establishing an integrated regional and international center for distribution, re-export, and value-added logistics services. The project will be located in the western hinterland of Dekheila Port on an area exceeding 273,000 square meters, boosting the port’s capacity to attract commercial activities, light industries, and final product assembly.
Transforming Egypt into a Regional Transport and Transit Trade Hub
Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, emphasized that this project aligns with the national strategy to transform Egypt into a global logistics and trade hub. This will be achieved by optimizing Egypt's geographic location and expanding partnerships with the private sector. He explained that the proposed center will offer an integrated service system, including storage, handling, distribution, and value-addition for goods. This initiative will improve services for importers and exporters, boost trade flows across the Eastern Mediterranean, and he instructed stakeholders to expedite executive agreements to begin implementation promptly.
Supporting Supply Chains and Integrating Ports with Industrial Activities
For his part, Amr Allam, Co-CEO of Hassan Allam Holding and Chairman of Hassan Allam Utilities, stated that the transport and logistics sector serves as a main pillar of the group's investment strategy. He noted that the direct connection between the proposed hub and Dekheila Port will enhance goods movement efficiency, deliver more competitive supply chains, and reinforce the state’s strategy to solidify Egypt’s status on the global trade map.
