NTRA Expands Digital Safety Efforts Through Partnership with General Federation of Social Agencies
Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has signed a cooperation protocol with the General Federation of Social Agencies to strengthen telecom users’ rights, promote digital awareness and enhance online protection for children and adolescents.
The partnership is designed to expand awareness of digital risks and safe internet practices across different segments of society, with particular attention to communities in governorates where support and awareness services are most needed.
Promoting Telecom Users’ Rights and Digital Privacy
Under the agreement, NTRA and the General Federation of Social Agencies will develop and implement joint awareness programs explaining telecom users’ rights and the obligations of service providers.
The initiatives will also guide users on how to submit complaints to NTRA and provide information on personal data protection, digital privacy and responsible internet use.
Another key focus will be helping families understand online risks facing children and adolescents and the measures available to reduce their exposure to such risks.
The cooperation will also introduce families to NTRA’s child SIM services, Etmaen (Rest Assured) and Etmaen Ala El Akher (Rest Fully Assured), explaining how the services can be used to support safer digital experiences for children.
Awareness Activities Across Egypt’s Governorates
The protocol includes workshops, awareness sessions and community meetings across Egypt’s governorates, particularly targeting families in areas with the greatest need for support.
Direct engagement with local communities will also be used to identify the main challenges families face when accessing and using telecommunications and internet services.
Building a Safer and More Inclusive Digital Society
The agreement forms part of NTRA’s strategy to expand institutional partnerships with civil society organizations and benefit from their geographic reach and direct engagement with citizens.
Through the partnership, NTRA aims to strengthen consumer protection while making digital safety information and services accessible to a wider audience.
The authority considers the protection of telecom users’ rights and children’s online safety key pillars in building a secure and inclusive digital society.
