In a strategic step aimed at strengthening its regional presence and expanding its business scope and strategic partnerships, Sophos, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, announced the appointment of Fayez Iweidat as Vice President of Sales for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (META).

In his new role, Iweidat will lead the regional sales strategy and empower large and mid-market organizations to leverage Sophos’s advanced defense systems, supporting their ability to build cyber resilience and combat increasingly complex digital threats.

A Regional Context Demanding High Cyber Resilience

This appointment comes at a time when organizations across the region are accelerating ambitious digital transformation initiatives and modernizing their tech infrastructure. This shift coincides with a noticeable rise in the sophistication and impact of cyberattacks targeting businesses.

According to the "State of Ransomware 2026" report by Sophos, the average cost of recovery from ransomware attacks for affected organizations in the United Arab Emirates reached approximately $665,000. This highlights the significant financial and operational burdens associated with cyber threats, driving institutions to collaborate with specialized partners to simplify security operations and protect endpoints, firewalls, digital identities, cloud environments, and email systems.

Three Strategic Priorities to Drive Growth

Fayez Iweidat has outlined three core strategic priorities for his mandate:

Strengthening Cyber Resilience: Helping customers build robust defenses capable of mitigating attack impacts and preventing business disruption.

Enterprise Sector Expansion: Scaling Sophos’s presence within the large enterprise and commercial sectors.

Partner Ecosystem Development: Enhancing the network of partners and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to ensure comprehensive market coverage.

Iweidat will report directly to Andy Travers, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales for EMEA at Sophos, working closely with regional sales, channel, and technical teams to execute the company's growth strategy across the region
