Egypt Doubles Basic Fixed-Internet Data Allowance to 100GB Without Raising Price
Internet Users to Get Double the Data
Egypt is moving to increase the capacity of the country’s basic fixed-internet package from 50GB to 100GB while maintaining the existing subscription price of EGP 150.
The directive was issued by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to fixed-internet service providers.
More Capacity at the Same Cost
The change effectively doubles the data allowance available to subscribers without increasing the package price.
The measure follows recommendations from Egypt Forum 2026, which were announced by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly as part of efforts to strengthen telecommunications services and broaden access to fixed internet.
A Push for Wider Digital Access
NTRA said the decision supports the government’s efforts to strengthen digital inclusion and make internet services more accessible to different segments of society.
Increasing the basic package’s capacity could also help users make greater use of online education, healthcare and government services, particularly as digital platforms become more integrated into everyday activities.
The move forms part of Egypt’s wider strategy to expand access to digital services while taking into account the financial pressures facing consumers.
