Egypt Finance Minister: 2.5 Million Properties Registered Through Real Estate Tax App
Kouchouk Highlights Growing Public Use of Digital Tax Services
Egyptian Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said approximately 2.5 million units have been registered through the country’s real estate tax mobile application, with citizens creating around 1.8 million accounts so far.
Kouchouk thanked citizens for their response to the digital service, noting that the Ministry of Finance is working to make real estate tax procedures easier while increasing the application’s technical capacity to handle the high volume of user activity.
New Tax Discounts Available Through the Mobile Application
The minister encouraged citizens to register through the real estate tax application and take advantage of the latest facilities and incentives.
Tax declarations can be submitted electronically through the application until December 31, 2026. Citizens can receive a 25% reduction in the annual tax on residential units and a 10% reduction for non-residential units.
The ministry is also offering an additional 5% discount on the annual tax for taxpayers who make an advance payment ranging from EGP 200 to EGP 1,000, depending on the type of property.
Families Can Apply Online for Residential Tax Exemptions
Kouchouk said families whose private residence has a value of less than EGP 8 million can submit their tax declaration and electronically request an exemption through the mobile application.
The measure is intended to make the exemption process easier by allowing eligible taxpayers to complete the procedure digitally.
Tax Disputes Can Be Settled Until April 2027
The finance minister also announced that taxpayers involved in disputes before appeal committees or courts can reach a settlement until April 2, 2027.
Under the settlement arrangement, taxpayers can resolve their disputes by paying 70% of the total tax amount, while being exempted from late-payment charges.
Kouchouk stressed the ministry’s commitment to maintaining flexibility when handling citizens’ requests, emphasizing the objective of creating a fresh start in dealing with real estate tax issues.
Technical Support Capacity Being Expanded
Ramy Youssef, Assistant Minister for Tax Policies, said the ministry is continuing to upgrade the real estate tax application to ensure continuous improvements in service quality and address users’ needs.
He added that the ministry is expanding its technical support teams and their capabilities to help citizens use the new incentives, facilitate access to services and overcome any technical or procedural difficulties.
Finance Ministry Continues Engagement with Business Community
Youssef said the ministry is maintaining discussions with representatives of the business community to answer their questions regarding the new real estate tax facilities.
He explained that continued communication helps clarify the available measures, identify areas for service improvement and develop the overall system. He also emphasized the ministry’s openness to ideas and initiatives that could contribute to improving the service.
