In a keynote panel at the Techne Summit for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Egypt's Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, emphasized that ongoing engagement with startups and young entrepreneurs serves as a crucial spark for innovation, fostering continuous institutional growth. He noted that exchanging perspectives with ecosystem partners directly informs the design of flexible, high-efficiency financial systems tailored to the Egyptian market.

Tailored Tax Solutions for Small Businesses

Minister Kouchouk highlighted Egypt’s newly introduced simplified tax regime as an entirely local initiative designed to ease administrative burdens on small businesses, incentivizing them to scale sustainably. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to funding creative, high-impact initiatives that boost the overall competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.

Subsidized Financing and Multi-Billion Stimulus

The Minister noted that accessible financing is actively provided to emerging businesses through the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA). Striking a balance between economic expansion and fiscal stability, the current general budget allocates EGP 80 billion to targeted programs aimed at boosting domestic production, driving exports, and supporting entrepreneurship.

Joint Investment Funds in the Pipeline

To further streamline fiscal support, the Ministry of Finance is coordinating with the Ministries of Investment and Industry to establish two specialized investment funds. These funds will deliver targeted financial backing to strategic high-growth sectors.

Digital Innovation in Public Services

Underscoring that digital transformation aims to simplify everyday public services, Kouchouk shared that the government’s Real Estate Tax mobile application has crossed 1.2 million registered users. He added that the platform undergoes continuous functional enhancements to deliver a seamless user experience
