Egyptian Banking Stocks Show Mixed Performance at Wednesday’s Opening Session

Egypt’s listed banking stocks recorded mixed movements at the opening of Wednesday’s trading session, with several shares posting modest gains while others moved lower.

The Export Development Bank of Egypt (EBE) topped the banking sector’s gainers, with its share price increasing 0.46% to EGP 22. The stock recorded trading worth approximately EGP 1.315 million, with around 59,635 shares changing hands.

Suez Canal Bank ranked second among the sector’s gainers, rising 0.41% to EGP 46.99. Trading on the stock reached approximately EGP 954,536, involving about 20,366 shares.

Meanwhile, QNB Egypt came third, with its shares gaining 0.29% to EGP 61.91. The stock recorded trading value of approximately EGP 4.381 million, through transactions involving around 71,361 shares.

On the downside, Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) declined 0.12% to EGP 131.34, with trading worth approximately EGP 16.929 million and around 128,882 shares changing hands.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt also fell 0.13% to EGP 52.38, while trading value reached approximately EGP 1.655 million, involving nearly 31,576 shares.

Al Baraka Bank Egypt recorded the largest decline among the listed banking stocks mentioned, falling 0.63% to EGP 25.44. Trading value stood at approximately EGP 1.013 million, through around 39,699 shares.

Meanwhile, five banking stocks remained unchanged at the opening of trading: Credit Agricole Egypt, United Bank, Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt (EGP-denominated shares), Housing and Development Bank, and Egyptian Gulf Bank.
