Canadian Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne has urged the United Kingdom to enhance economic cooperation with Canada and the European Union, emphasizing that closer strategic partnerships are essential to navigate a rapidly shifting global political landscape.

Speaking to the BBC and cited by PA Media, Champagne highlighted the deep alignment between the nations, noting they share a similar worldview and core values.

"We need to look at partnership differently. The important thing is that when you look at Canada, and I would also say the UK, we share the same values. So why not cooperate?" Champagne stated. He further emphasized the balance of national autonomy and collaborative strength, adding, "We are independent and sovereign, but we are stronger together."
