Egyptian Pound Holds Steady Against USD as IMF Board Prepares to Review $1.6B Tranche

 The US Dollar (USD) maintained relative stability against the Egyptian Pound (EGP) during early transactions on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, according to the latest figures from public and private sector banks in Egypt.

Market participants continue to closely track exchange rate movements as a primary driver of domestic commodity prices, particularly for imported goods.

IMF Executive Board Meeting

In a major economic milestone, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has placed Egypt on its Executive Board meeting agenda scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2026. The board will review the completion of the seventh review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program, alongside the second review under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). Approval of these reviews will pave the way for disbursing a new funding tranche of approximately $1.6 billion.
