QNB has announced the launch of its new "Smart" savings certificate, a variable-yield product tailored for retail clients. The certificate is designed to combine the advantages of fluctuating interest rates with a guaranteed minimum return, offering customers flexibility and competitive yields while ensuring investment stability.
The bank stated that the 3-year certificate is issued in Egyptian Pounds (EGP), with returns disbursed on a monthly basis. Interest calculation begins on the first working day following the date of issuance.
Yield Structure and Calculation
The certificate's yield is pegged to the Central Bank of Egypt's (CBE) overnight deposit rate (the corridor rate) plus a 0.50% premium.
Current Yield: Reaches 19.50% (effective as of July 27, 2026).
Guaranteed Minimum Return: Protects investors with a baseline return of 17.25%, ensuring a secure income floor regardless of potential CBE rate cuts.
Issuance Terms and Additional Features
Investment Threshold: The minimum purchase amount is EGP 500,000 for the initial issuance, with options to increase the investment in increments of EGP 1,000. There is no maximum cap on the value or number of certificates a customer can hold.
Credit Facilities: Clients have the option to secure credit facilities or loans guaranteed by the certificate, issued in the same currency.
Redemption Policy: The certificate can be liquidated after 6 months from the date of issuance, subject to the bank's standard terms and conditions.
Digital Tracking: Customers can seamlessly monitor their certificate balances and returns through QNB's digital and electronic banking platforms.
QNB emphasized that the "Smart" certificate serves as an optimal savings solution for clients seeking a regular monthly income while capturing the upside of potential interest rate hikes, all safeguarded by a reliable minimum return.
