LuLu Financial Holdings Partners with Purpleplum to Enhance Digital Corporate Banking in the UAE
LuLu Financial Holdings, an international financial services group specializing in cross-border payments, currency exchange, and fintech solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Purpleplum, a modular banking software infrastructure provider for banks, fintechs, and enterprises, aimed at elevating corporate financial services in the United Arab Emirates.
Under this partnership, Purpleplum’s core-agnostic orchestration platform will be integrated into LuLu Money Business, the digital corporate financial services platform of LuLu Financial Holdings designed for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This integration bridges existing banking infrastructure with payment rails, financial products, and business operations, facilitating seamless transactions, financial access, and cash management for businesses.
The partnership was officially executed in the presence of Adeeb Ahamed, Managing Director of LuLu Financial Holdings, along with Kalyan Kartik Sadasivuni and Sai Sandeep Sadasivuni, Co-founders of Purpleplum, alongside senior executives from both organizations.
Phase One: AI-Powered Banking Solutions & Islamic Partnership
The initial phase focuses on bolstering corporate banking capabilities for SMEs and enterprises through a unified digital experience. Key highlights include:
Digital Business Accounts: Providing accounts in collaboration with ruya, a digital Islamic bank licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE.
Comprehensive Financial Services: Offering corporate cards, local and cross-border payments, and Wage Protection System (WPS) / payroll services.
Automated Onboarding: Powered by AI agents and intelligent workflows, with thousands of corporate account applications currently undergoing digital review.
This phase leverages LuLu Exchange's extensive physical footprint and established corporate relationships across the UAE, where a vast network of businesses and employees already rely on its payroll and WPS capabilities. By building on this foundation, LuLu Money Business aims to expand beyond single-payment processing into a holistic financial ecosystem for SMEs.
Supporting the UAE’s SME Sector
This strategic initiative is especially significant given the pivotal role of SMEs in the UAE economy:
SMEs account for 95% of all operating businesses in the country.
They number approximately 1.33 million businesses, according to the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism.
They contribute 63% to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
They provide over 85% of private sector employment.
Adeeb Ahamed, Managing Director of LuLu Financial Holdings, stated:
"Through LuLu Money Business, our goal is to simplify daily financial operations for SMEs and deliver a more integrated, user-friendly experience. Our partnership with Purpleplum allows us to embed their core-agnostic orchestration platform into our existing infrastructure, optimizing our service delivery and maximizing the potential of our existing network. It gives us the agility to roll out new capabilities progressively, deepen corporate relationships, and scale solutions as business needs evolve."
Future Roadmap and Regional Expansion
The long-term roadmap for LuLu Money Business includes introducing advanced corporate features such as:
Working capital finance, invoice and trade financing, and corporate credit lines.
Accounts payable and receivable management, automated accounting, and treasury management solutions.
Multi-market scalability beyond the UAE, extending services to other GCC markets, India, and the Asia-Pacific region, subject to local regulatory approvals.
In parallel, Purpleplum plans to expand its regional presence over the next 12 to 24 months, establishing the UAE as its regional headquarters. The firm intends to scale partnerships with regional banks, fintechs, and financial institutions while growing its local team and ecosystem partners.
Kalyan Kartik Sadasivuni, Co-founder of Purpleplum, commented:
"The Middle East is experiencing a rapid transformation in digital banking, driven by progressive regulatory changes, institutional ambition, and strong technology adoption. Artificial intelligence will play an increasingly pivotal role in how financial institutions operate and serve clients. By combining AI-first banking infrastructure with strong market presence and local expertise, we aim to be a long-term technology partner helping regional institutions build, launch, and scale modern financial products faster."
