Vodafone Egypt and Safe Egypt Partner to Promote Child Online Safety Under National Council Patronage
Vodafone Egypt has signed a strategic cooperation protocol with Safe Egypt Foundation to strengthen child online safety and promote responsible digital practices among young users, in a move supported by the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM).
The agreement reflects Vodafone Egypt’s ongoing commitment to creating a safer digital environment for children and supporting national efforts aimed at enhancing digital protection and online safety across Egypt.
The protocol was signed by Eng. Ayman El Saadany, External Affairs Director at Vodafone Egypt, and Sarah Aziz, Founder and Managing Director of Safe Egypt Foundation. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Sahar El Sonbaty, President of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, in the presence of Eng. Mohamed Ibrahim, Executive Deputy for Community Engagement and the agency’s official media spokesperson.
The partnership seeks to raise awareness of online child safety among educational institutions, parents and children, while introducing educational initiatives and interactive activities designed to encourage safe and responsible digital behavior. As part of the collaboration, the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood will provide national patronage for the initiative, supervise content directed at children and families, support awareness and capacity-building activities, and promote Egypt’s child protection system and the Child Helpline (16000).
The initiative brings together the expertise of Vodafone Egypt and Safe Egypt Foundation to address the growing challenges associated with children's digital safety amid the increasing integration of technology and the internet into everyday life. Particular emphasis will be placed on strengthening awareness among schools and families, recognizing the vital role played by parents and educators in fostering safe digital experiences for children.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Dr. Sahar El Sonbaty stressed that digital safety has become a priority issue in light of rapid technological developments and the risks they entail, requiring coordinated efforts among all stakeholders. She praised the initiative launched by Safe Egypt Foundation in partnership with Vodafone Egypt and highlighted the importance of collaboration between civil society organizations and the private sector in supporting child protection and well-being in the digital era.
Eng. Ayman El Saadany, External Affairs Director at Vodafone Egypt, said the partnership represents a strategic milestone in the company's efforts to create a safer and more responsible digital ecosystem for children in Egypt.
"We believe that empowering future generations digitally must go hand in hand with awareness, protection and the promotion of sound digital behavior. Through this collaboration, we aim to deliver effective programs that enhance awareness of online risks, encourage responsible technology use and support national efforts to build a safe and inclusive digital society that guarantees children a positive and sustainable digital experience," El Saadany said.
Sarah Aziz, Founder and Managing Director of Safe Egypt Foundation, said that as technology becomes increasingly embedded in children's lives, digital protection has become an integral component of overall child protection.
"We believe that building a safe digital environment cannot be achieved through fear or restriction, but rather through awareness, open dialogue and equipping children, families, educators and caregivers with the tools and skills needed to use technology positively and responsibly," she said.
Aziz added that the partnership with Vodafone Egypt will contribute to building a more informed and digitally secure generation through practical solutions, awareness content and sustainable programs that support children, families and educational institutions.
Under the agreement, the two parties will implement awareness campaigns, workshops, educational seminars and community outreach programs across schools and educational institutions. They will also provide educational content and interactive activities specifically designed for children, in addition to dedicated awareness programs for parents and initiatives focusing on digital literacy and internet safety.
The partnership further reinforces Vodafone Egypt's broader commitment to using technology as a force for positive social impact and building a safer and more responsible digital landscape across the country.
The initiative builds on Vodafone Egypt's long-standing efforts to empower communities through development programs and initiatives that extend beyond telecommunications services. Over the years, the company has launched and supported numerous projects focused on digital education, social empowerment, digital inclusion and equipping younger generations with the skills needed to thrive in the future, while continuing to collaborate with government entities and civil society organizations to ensure that technological progress is accompanied by awareness, protection and care for future generations.
