The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) participated in organizing an awareness workshop for children titled "I Am a Digital Citizen." The event was held in partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM), and the Egyptian Society for Community Building to Protect and Care for Child Victims of Violence, as part of the Ministry's "Digital Citizenship and Cyber Protection" initiative.

Raising Children's Awareness and Equipping Them with Safe Digital Skills

The workshop aimed to enhance children's awareness of cybersecurity risks and equip them with essential skills to protect themselves and their personal data online. Key focus areas included:

Instilling concepts of digital citizenship and privacy.

Raising awareness about safe communication rules and the dangers of cyberbullying.

Introducing official mechanisms for reporting incidents and seeking support from relevant authorities when facing online risks.

Integrating National Roles and Preparing for International Forums

In a related context, the Ministry participated in a strategic workshop organized by the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood. The session discussed mechanisms to intensify monitoring and response efforts to digital challenges facing children, while facilitating knowledge exchange among national entities.

During the workshop, participants discussed and formulated recommendations for Egypt's participation in the 2nd Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, scheduled to take place in the Philippines later this month.

Sustaining National Initiatives for Empowerment and Responsible Usage

These activities align with MCIT's ongoing efforts to promote a culture of safe and responsible technology use. Through its "Digital Citizenship and Cyber Protection" initiative, the Ministry continues to empower various societal groups—particularly children, youth, and women—with the digital skills required to safely and effectively leverage modern technologies.
