Bibliotheca Alexandrina Hosts Major Startup and Innovation Gathering

The Techne Summit Alexandria 2026 began on Saturday at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, bringing together entrepreneurs, technology startups, investors, companies and organizations supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
The event will continue through October 5, with sponsorship from Egypt’s Ministries of Communications and Information Technology, Investment and Foreign Trade, and Finance. Its strategic partners include Meta, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and Startup Egypt.

Alexandria Summit Targets Startups, Investors and Entrepreneurs

The 2026 Alexandria edition is expected to attract more than 45,000 participants, including startup founders, talent, investors and organizations supporting entrepreneurship.
The summit aims to connect different players across the technology and innovation ecosystem while creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to engage with investors and potential partners.

Early-Stage Companies Take Center Stage

This year’s Alexandria event places its main focus on the “Start” phase of the entrepreneurship journey.
The program is particularly aimed at early-stage startups, entrepreneurs and students, alongside investors, business accelerators, incubators and organizations supporting emerging companies.
The summit covers sectors including fintech, healthtech, education, e-commerce, investment, the creative economy, gaming, sports technology, logistics, cleantech and climate innovation, as well as corporate innovation and startups.

More Than $1 Million in Combined Startup Opportunities

Startup competitions are among the key features of Techne 2026. Across the Cairo and Alexandria editions, participating startups have access to more than $1 million in combined prizes and potential investment opportunities.
The events also offer more than 90 workshops, individual mentoring sessions, meetings with investors, networking activities and opportunities to establish new partnerships.

SANAD ElevateHer Competition Supports Women-Led Startups

The opening day includes the SANAD ElevateHer Regional Competition, which focuses on promising startups led by women across the Middle East and North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The competition runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The day’s program also features discussions on AI, entrepreneurship, robotics and low-cost automation, in addition to presentations by companies operating in cleantech.

Alexandria Event Builds on Cairo Summit

The Alexandria summit follows Techne Summit Cairo 2026, held on September 26 and 27 as part of Middle East Innovation Week.
The two editions have different areas of focus, with Alexandria placing greater emphasis on startup creation, entrepreneurship and early-stage development, while the Cairo edition focused on business growth, expansion, investment and access to capital.
