Egypt Hosts Arab Security Conference 2026

Egypt hosted the 10th Arab Security Conference (ASC) on September 27–28 in Cairo. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and several government entities, including the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), as well as institutions and companies working in IT and cybersecurity, alongside leading experts, specialists, and decision-makers.

ASC is a leading regional platform for advancing cybersecurity across the Arab world and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Since its first edition in 2017, it has worked to raise security awareness, discuss the latest advancements in the field, equip specialists with the knowledge and skills to counter evolving cyber threats and protect the digital space, and prepare a new generation of professionals ready for the challenges of the digital era.

This year's program included panel discussions, workshops, and technical sessions on cybersecurity developments, emerging threats, the latest technologies, and practical solutions for strengthening digital protection. The sessions also covered critical infrastructure protection, cloud security, capacity building, and AI, including how it can be used for early threat detection and analysis, with an emphasis on protecting data and models and strengthening human oversight.
 
During the opening session, MCIT stressed that cybersecurity has become a cornerstone of digital sovereignty, competitiveness, and sustainable development. It presented the National Cybersecurity Strategy 2023–2027 and the work of the Egyptian Computer Emergency Readiness Team (EG-CERT) of NTRA, as well as the importance of investing in human capital and developing specialized talent. The Ministry also underlined the need to build cybersecurity and privacy requirements into digital services from the design stage, to raise institutions' readiness to respond to cyber incidents, and to deepen cooperation among government, the private sector, universities, and research centers.
  
At the end of the opening session, MCIT received a commemorative shield marking the conference's 10th edition.
