Egypt Participates at Expert Level in 2026 KOAFEC Ministerial Conference
Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), participated at the expert level in the 8th Korea–Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) Ministerial Conference, co-hosted by the African Development Bank, Korea's Ministry of Finance and Economy, and the Export-Import Bank of Korea, on September 8–11 in Seoul, Korea.
The conference marked a significant milestone in the economic partnership between Korea and Africa. Established in 2006, it has since served as the primary platform bringing together ministers, senior government officials, private sector representatives, and development experts from both sides to exchange experience and shape innovative solutions supporting digital transformation efforts across Africa.
This year's edition was held under the theme "Harnessing AI and Digital Infrastructure for Africa's Transformation," reflecting the shift in the Korea–Africa partnership toward joint investment in technologies that will shape the continent's digital future.
The event agenda included a ministerial roundtable, a business innovation forum, and sessions on digital connectivity, digital public infrastructure, innovation, entrepreneurship, and AI applications across strategic sectors, most notably agriculture, health, education, finance, and public administration. The program also featured business meetings and industrial and cultural visits.
Egypt's participation in this year's conference builds on its central role in advancing digital development both nationally and across the continent, and affirms the country’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation in AI, digital infrastructure, and innovation.
