Egypt hosted the 16th national finals of the Egyptian Robot Olympiad on September 10, serving as the official qualifying stage for the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) finals scheduled to take place in Puerto Rico this coming December, with 90 nations competing.

Hosted at Newgiza University (NGU) for the fourth consecutive year in strategic partnership with Microsoft, the national competition followed year-long qualifiers that drew roughly 400 school and university participants nationwide, with 100 finalists advancing to the domestic championship round.

Key Highlights & International Qualifiers

Global Qualifiers: Beyond securing spots for the global finals in Puerto Rico, more than 10 qualifying teams earned berths to represent Egypt at an international robotics championship in China this coming October.

Empowering Women in Tech: This year's edition debuted the "Women Promoting Robotics Education" initiative, designed to celebrate and elevate the role of female professionals and mentors advancing tech and robotics pedagogy.

Skill Development & Labor Market Linkage: The Olympiad serves as an incubator for youth problem-solving and critical thinking through STEM disciplines, bridging the gap between educational curricula and modern industrial demands.

In an official statement, Newgiza University expressed pride in hosting the national championship for the fourth consecutive year, noting that the continued collaboration reflects its institutional standing as a hub for science, technology, and industry-aligned innovation.
