The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), in collaboration with the global autonomous vehicle software company "Oxa," has announced the launch of the Future of Autonomous Logistics Lab in Dubai. The initiative aims to deploy the latest futuristic technologies and advanced applications across various service and logistics sectors, further cementing Dubai’s position as a premier global hub for developing and delivering smart autonomous logistics solutions.

Operating under the umbrella of the "Dubai Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Ecosystem" projects, the new lab focuses on developing knowledge- and trial-based solutions for the most promising technological opportunities on both local and global scales. It also seeks to boost the productivity of existing sectors and services by unlocking new pathways that enhance their economic value.

The joint venture is designed to contribute to the targets of the Dubai Economic Agenda "D33," which aims to double the volume of the emirate's foreign trade by 2033. The project will integrate autonomous driving technologies into a comprehensive product ecosystem that combines self-operating logistics services with the tracking, collection, and analysis of data from worksites, thereby enhancing operational flexibility.

The lab will specifically study opportunities for developing and operating autonomous vehicles in critical infrastructure hubs such as ports and airports. The project is slated to launch its first commercial operations in Dubai before the end of 2027.

Pioneering Smart Solutions

Commenting on the launch, Khalifa Al Qama, Head of the Dubai RDI Ecosystem supervised by DFF, said: "Through this lab, we aim to develop new smart solutions in the logistics sector that create fresh economic opportunities. These solutions will keep pace with rapid technological advancements and their promising applications, aligning seamlessly with Dubai's efforts to solidify its status as a global center for the future of logistics."

Paul Newman, Founder and CEO of Oxa, stated: "This joint project with the Dubai Future Foundation will drive the development of industrial mobility automation technologies, achieving unprecedented levels of efficiency, reliability, and safety for industrial fleet operators."

Operations at the lab will rely on highly secure and customizable software, including specialized cloud-based fleet management systems. This will be complemented by the deployment of Oxa hardware, which is designed to integrate seamlessly with all types of industrial equipment.

It is worth noting that the "Dubai RDI Ecosystem" provides a comprehensive umbrella for all current and future projects in research, development, and innovation. Directed to be established in December 2025 by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of DFF, the ecosystem supports government and private entities across Dubai and the UAE in developing innovative, qualitative ideas rooted in the latest advanced technologies.
