Egypt's Ready-Made Garments Export Council announced a robust performance for the sector during the first half of 2026. Export values climbed by 15% to reach $1.775 billion, compared to $1.548 billion during the same period in 2025. This growth reflects the sector's sustained positive momentum since the beginning of the year, despite ongoing global trade challenges.

The Council highlighted that this positive growth was heavily supported by a strategic reliance on local production inputs, marking a significant step forward in deepening domestic manufacturing capabilities and achieving industrial integration within Egypt.

June 2026 marked the sector's strongest monthly performance of the year. Exports during the month jumped to $355 million, achieving a 47% year-on-year growth compared to $241 million in June 2025, which significantly bolstered the total export figures for the first half of the year.

Industry Resilience Amid Global Disruptions

Eng. Fadel Marzouk, Chairman of the Ready-Made Garments Export Council, stated that the H1 2026 results demonstrate the industry's capacity for sustained growth and strong export rates, even amid successive global economic challenges.

He noted that while global supply chain disruptions have directly impacted international trade and demand in various markets, the Egyptian ready-made garment sector has proven its resilience. The industry has maintained its competitiveness, reflecting the strength of Egyptian products, importer confidence in local quality, and the sector's reliability in fulfilling contracts on time.

Key Export Markets

Marzouk explained that European and American markets continued to drive the sector's growth during the first half of the year:

European Market: Exports surged by 25% to reach $767 million, up from $615 million in H1 2025.

United States Market: Exports increased by 13% to record $693 million, compared to $616 million in the previous year.

Together, these two markets accounted for the lion's share of the sector's total exports, underscoring the strong positioning of Egyptian garments among major global buyers.

Future Targets and Expansion Strategy

The Council continues to implement a comprehensive strategy aimed at expanding into foreign markets, diversifying export destinations, increasing the value-added component of Egyptian products, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to enhance their export capabilities.

Looking ahead, Marzouk emphasized that the sector's primary goal for the remainder of 2026 is to maintain current growth rates. Building on the positive first-half results, the Council aims to surpass the $3.5 billion mark, targeting up to $4 billion in total exports by the end of the year.
