Emirates NBD Posts Record H1 2026 Pre-Tax Profit of AED 16.2 Billion Following Strategic RBL Acquisition

Emirates NBD achieved a record pre-tax profit of AED 16.2 billion during the first half of 2026, marking a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth was primarily driven by a 13% surge in net interest income and a 25% rise in non-funded income, coinciding with the successful completion of the bank's strategic acquisition of RBL Bank.

The Group's total income climbed by 16% to AED 27.9 billion, while operating profit before impairment allowances grew by 17% to AED 19.5 billion. This performance reflects a broadening revenue base coupled with sustained discipline in cost management.

However, pre-tax profit growth tracked slightly lower than operating profit growth due to an increase in provisions, which rose to AED 1.4 billion, alongside hyperinflationary costs.

Balance Sheet and Asset Quality

The Group’s balance sheet surpassed the AED 1.3 trillion mark, supported by solid growth across core metrics:

Total Loans: Increased by 17% (an addition of AED 114 billion) to reach AED 771 billion.

Deposits: Grew by 13% to reach AED 892 billion.

RBL Acquisition Impact: Contributed an additional AED 74 billion in assets, AED 44 billion to the loan portfolio, and AED 43 billion in deposits.

Asset quality remained highly resilient. The cost of risk stabilized at 42 basis points, and the impaired loan ratio improved to 2.1%. Furthermore, major credit rating agencies have affirmed the bank’s ratings with a stable outlook.

Debt Capital Markets and Sustainable Finance

In the debt capital markets, Emirates NBD marked a strong return to the GCC debt space by issuing $750 million in Additional Tier 1 (AT1) capital bonds.

The bank also aggressively expanded its environmental finance footprint with several landmark issuances:

A $1 billion green-blue bond, representing the largest issuance of its kind globally by a financial institution.

A €500 million standard bond issuance.

A $1.75 billion sustainability-linked loan.

These strategic efforts have propelled the bank's sustainable finance initiatives, reaching 91% of its ambitious $30 billion target set for 2030.

Additionally, the Group's Assets Under Management (AUM) expanded to $105 billion. Meanwhile, the total consolidated Islamic assets held by Emirates Islamic and the bank's Islamic window exceeded AED 250 billion.
