New MENA Digital Trade Program Set to Boost Private Sector Growth and Job Creation

A major regional effort to modernize trade and e-commerce across the Middle East and North Africa was officially launched in Cairo, with high-level participation from Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and the European Union delegation. The Regional Digital Trade and E-commerce Program is designed to bridge the digital gap by providing private sector entities with the tools and capacities needed to thrive in the digital age. This collaborative effort between the public and private sectors aims to create decent jobs and unlock new business opportunities through digital transformation.

Ambassador Angelina Eichhorst, Head of the EU Delegation to Egypt, joined Minister Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh in highlighting the program's focus on practical digital tools, such as electronic payments and signatures. By facilitating smoother trade procedures and building the digital capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the initiative ensures that the MENA region remains at the forefront of the global e-commerce boom. The partnership between the ITC, GIZ, and national stakeholders underscores a unified commitment to building a sustainable, tech-driven regional economy.
