Egypt and Yemen Bolster Strategic Ties in Digital Transformation and Infrastructure Rebuilding
Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Raafat Hindy, received his Yemeni counterpart, Dr. Shadi Saleh Basrah, today to discuss a comprehensive framework for bilateral cooperation in the ICT sector. The meeting focused on transferring Egypt’s successful digital transformation model to Yemen, with a particular emphasis on rebuilding Yemen’s telecommunications infrastructure which has faced significant challenges over the past decade.
During the talks, Eng. Hindy highlighted Egypt’s rapid progress in digitizing government services via the "Digital Egypt" platform and the national rollout of 5G technology. The two ministers explored opportunities for capacity building and the modernization of postal services, leveraging the long-standing expertise of the Egyptian National Post Organization. Dr. Basrah expressed Yemen's keen interest in adopting Egyptian best practices to reintegrate the Republic into the global tech development path, utilizing Egyptian expertise to rehabilitate damaged infrastructure and train a new generation of Yemeni digital cadres.
