Egypt’s MCIT Outlines AI Economic Strategy and Governance Frameworks at AUC Tahrir CultureFest 2026

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has underscored the critical role of responsive policy-making in navigating the economic shifts caused by Generative AI. Participating in a high-level panel titled "AI and the Economy: Opportunities and Implications" at the American University in Cairo (AUC) Tahrir CultureFest, the Ministry addressed the transformative power of Large Language Models (LLMs) on Egypt’s labor market and social structures.

Key discussions focused on bridging the digital infrastructure gap and ensuring inclusive access to advanced technologies. Ministry representatives emphasized the necessity of a "Responsive Governance" model—an agile regulatory framework capable of evolving alongside rapid AI advancements. By prioritizing ethical AI deployment, Egypt aims to harness these technologies as drivers of sustainable economic value while mitigating risks associated with automation and digital disparity.
