Banque Misr Community Development Foundation Partners with Khair & Baraka Association to Empower 400 Families in Minya
The Banque Misr Community Development Foundation has signed a cooperation protocol with Khair & Baraka and the New Woman Association to implement the “Entrepreneurship and Empowerment… A Step Toward Change” project in Minya, reinforcing efforts to support sustainable development and improve the quality of life for vulnerable communities.
The 18-month project, with a total budget of approximately EGP 17.9 million, aims to economically, socially, and educationally empower around 400 families from the most underprivileged segments of society.
The protocol was signed by Essam El-Wakeel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Banque Misr Community Development Foundation and Non-Executive Chairman of Banque Misr, and Nevin El‑Ebrashy, Founder and Chairwoman of Khair & Baraka and the New Woman Association, in the presence of senior representatives from both organizations.
Essam El-Wakeel emphasized that the foundation places developmental and social initiatives at the forefront of its priorities, reflecting its long-standing commitment to corporate social responsibility. He expressed pride in partnering with Khair & Baraka Association to deliver comprehensive development programs that focus on key pillars including economic empowerment, professional and financial skills development for beneficiary families, as well as social and educational empowerment.
He also noted that the foundation’s continued implementation of impactful development projects reflects its dedication to contributing to Egypt’s social progress. The initiative marks the seventh project implemented by the association with support from the foundation, highlighting the depth of the strategic partnership between the two organizations and their shared commitment to achieving sustainable development impact.
For her part, Nevin El-Ebrashy stated that the project represents an important step in empowering vulnerable families, explaining that the association adopts a development-based approach focused on capacity building and self-reliance rather than temporary assistance. This approach ensures sustainable impact and meaningful improvements in the living standards of beneficiary families.
The initiative focuses on two main pillars. The first is economic empowerment through supporting small and micro-enterprises and developing professional and financial skills to help families increase income and achieve economic stability. The second pillar focuses on social and educational empowerment through awareness, health, and educational activities that enhance family awareness, support children’s education, and strengthen family cohesion.
Through such initiatives, the Banque Misr Community Development Foundation continues to expand its role in supporting development programs that contribute to improving the lives of Egyptian communities while strengthening partnerships with government institutions, NGOs, and civil society organizations to advance sustainable development goals.
