Tafweela Launches Advanced NFC-Based Digital System for Toll and Weighbridge Payments Across Egypt
Tafweela, Egypt’s leading digital platform for fleet payment management and logistics solutions, has announced the launch of its advanced digital system for toll gate and weighbridge payments nationwide. The new service is designed to serve both corporate fleet operators and individual truck owners, offering a fully integrated cashless payment experience.
The newly launched solution enables trucks owned by companies and individuals to pay road toll and weighbridge fees using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, supporting Egypt’s transition from cash-based transactions to smart, secure digital payment solutions within one of the country’s most vital economic sectors.
Tafweela’s system aims to significantly enhance logistics efficiency by enabling seamless and secure passage through more than 300 toll gates covering national highways and key transport corridors across Egypt.
By digitizing toll payments, Tafweela transforms what has traditionally been an administrative burden into a competitive advantage. Toll and weighbridge fees typically account for 10% to 15% of total operating costs for transport companies. Through Tafweela’s precise expense control and real-time monitoring tools, businesses can better manage costs, improve profitability, and ensure operational sustainability.
Commenting on the launch, Marwan Elshayeb, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tafweela, stated that the company’s objective is to eliminate challenges associated with cash handling and manual expense settlements. He explained that the system delivers instant and secure payments, reduces vehicle waiting time at toll gates, and provides companies with a smart dashboard for real-time transaction monitoring, enhancing transparency and minimizing fraud or financial leakage.
The service also offers flexible solutions for individual truck owners, allowing easy top-ups of the NFC sticker through Egypt’s instant payment network, Instapay, ensuring broad accessibility and ease of use.
Aligned with Egypt’s financial inclusion initiatives and Vision 2030, Tafweela’s latest launch supports the digitization of the road transport sector — one of the most cash-dependent industries in the country. Founded in 2024 as the first startup incubated and funded by the T-Vencubator Fund, Tafweela has achieved rapid growth in 2025 by expanding its customer base and doubling transaction volumes across its platform.
