National Council for Women and NTRA Sign Cooperation Protocol to Empower Women in ICT

The National Council for Women and the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) have signed a cooperation protocol aimed at enhancing services provided to women and strengthening their role in the fields of telecommunications and information technology. This initiative aligns with Egypt Vision 2030, which emphasizes women’s empowerment, inclusive development, and digital transformation.

The protocol was signed by Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women, and Eng. Mohamed Shamroukh, CEO of NTRA. Counselor Ammar stated that the agreement reflects the Council’s commitment to expanding cooperation with state institutions to support the empowerment of Egyptian women—particularly in ICT, a key driver of sustainable economic empowerment. She emphasized that collaboration with NTRA will create real training and qualification opportunities for women and girls, enhance their digital skills, and increase their participation in the labor market in line with the requirements of digital transformation.

For his part, Eng. Mohamed Shamroukh affirmed that this cooperation reflects NTRA’s commitment to adopting the policies of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) aimed at bridging the digital gender gap and promoting women’s leadership in ICT. He stressed that technological empowerment of women is not merely a social goal, but a fundamental pillar of digital transformation, contributing to the creation of an inclusive digital environment that enables Egyptian women to innovate and actively participate in the labor market.

The protocol focuses on exchanging expertise and coordination to ensure women’s access to digital services, launching joint training programs in cybersecurity and technology entrepreneurship, and promoting digital literacy to ensure safe and responsible use of technology among women and girls.
