Palo Alto Networks Completes CyberArk Acquisition, Strengthening Identity Security Strategy

Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ: PANW), a global leader in cybersecurity, announced the completion of its acquisition of CyberArk, a move that reinforces identity security as a core pillar of the company’s platform consolidation strategy.

The integration of CyberArk’s Identity Security Platform into Palo Alto Networks’ ecosystem enables comprehensive protection for all types of identities across the enterprise, including human identities, machine identities, system identities, and AI-driven agents.

Identity security has become critical for modern organizations as cloud adoption, automation, and artificial intelligence accelerate. Identity is now the most frequently targeted entry point for cyberattacks, driven by the rapid growth in the number of identities operating with elevated and continuous access privileges.

Industry estimates indicate that machine identities outnumber human identities by more than 80 to 1, while 75% of organizations acknowledge that their human identities are still managed using outdated, overly permissive access models. As a result, credential abuse and excessive privileges have emerged as dominant attack vectors, with data showing that nearly 90% of organizations have already experienced an identity-centric security breach.

By acquiring CyberArk, Palo Alto Networks expands privileged access management beyond a limited group of administrators to cover all enterprise identities. This approach helps organizations reduce standing privileges, limit lateral movement within networks, and respond more rapidly to identity-based threats.
