Over Half of Egyptian Companies Plan to Launch Security Operations Centers to Boost Cybersecurity
A recent study by Kaspersky reveals that 55% of companies operating in Egypt are planning to establish Security Operations Centers (SOCs) in the near future, aiming to strengthen their cybersecurity capabilities and accelerate threat detection and response amid rising digital risks and increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.
The survey, which included senior information security and IT managers from companies with over 500 employees, found that 41% of organizations aim to create SOCs to combat growing cyber threats, while 45% cited budget optimization as a key motivator. Additionally, 33% emphasized the need to accelerate threat detection and containment, and 49% pointed to the expansion of software, devices, and endpoints as a driving factor for more comprehensive security solutions.
Other findings revealed that 41% of firms target enhanced protection of sensitive data, 39% aim to meet regulatory requirements, and 36% expect SOCs to provide a competitive edge, especially among larger companies facing increased operational and compliance pressures.
Continuous monitoring and human expertise remain critical: The study highlighted that 61% of companies plan to operate SOCs with 24/7 monitoring to detect threats early and prevent escalation, enhancing real-time cybersecurity resilience. Despite growing automation, human expertise remains central, with analysts playing a crucial role in interpreting complex data and guiding responses.
Kaspersky’s Roman Nazarov emphasized that “success in SOCs relies not only on technology selection but also on careful operational planning, clear goal-setting, and efficient resource allocation, enabling human experts to focus on critical tasks and making the SOC a proactive and resilient component of enterprise cybersecurity strategy.”
