LG to Unveil Next-Generation AI-Defined Mobility Technology at CES 2026
LG Electronics, a global leader in automotive and mobility innovation, is preparing to showcase its pioneering AI Cabin Platform at CES 2026 in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9. The next-generation in-vehicle solution is powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Cockpit Elite platform and is designed to redefine the future of intelligent mobility through advanced generative artificial intelligence.
The AI Cabin Platform will be presented for the first time at LG’s private CES showcase, offering guests an immersive experience inside a digital cockpit equipped with the new technology. The demonstration also introduces the concept of the AI-Defined Vehicle (AIDV), a transformative evolution beyond today’s software-defined vehicles (SDVs), where core driving experiences are shaped by real-time AI interaction and context awareness.
Using generative AI models such as large language models, vision language models and image generation systems, LG’s platform enables vehicles to understand, respond to and anticipate driver needs. The integration brings a new level of intelligence to in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), where the system becomes an active companion rather than a passive interface.
A key differentiator of the AI Cabin Platform is its ability to perform all AI computing on-device, directly within the vehicle. Leveraging the high-performance capabilities of Snapdragon Cockpit Elite, the system avoids cloud-based processing, ensuring faster responses, continuous operation even in low-connectivity environments, and enhanced privacy and data security by eliminating external data transmission.
By analyzing real-time data from internal and external cameras, the AI Cabin Platform interprets driving conditions, surrounding environments and even driver behavior. If a nearby car is merging and the platform detects the driver is unaware, it can deliver a personalized verbal warning such as: “A car is merging ahead. Please keep your eyes on the road and drive safely.” This proactive assistance makes driving safer and more intuitive.
The platform also brings creativity and personalization into infotainment. For example, if a driver is listening to music during a snowy evening, the system can generate a customized user interface featuring a winter-themed visual environment, while proposing contextual recommendations like: “It’s a beautiful snowy night. Would you like some winter-themed music suggestions?”
LG and Qualcomm Technologies have been deepening their collaboration since CES 2025, when the companies introduced a breakthrough high-performance computing (HPC) platform integrating in-vehicle infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) into a unified control unit. Built on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC, the consolidated solution improves system efficiency, reduces cost and boosts performance, setting new standards for next-generation automotive architecture.
“Based on our proven technology and global trust, we will continue expanding partnerships with innovators like Qualcomm Technologies to drive future mobility beyond the SDV to the AIDV,” said Eun Seok-hyun, president of LG’s Vehicle Solution Company. “With the AI Cabin Platform, we are creating mobility that understands drivers and responds proactively to their preferences, turning every journey into a personalized and seamless experience.”
LG’s introduction of the AI Cabin Platform underscores its leadership in shaping the future of smart mobility and brings the industry closer to a vehicle ecosystem defined not only by software, but by real-time artificial intelligence capable of managing, adapting and elevating the driving experience.
