OpenAI has launched a new ChatGPT feature called “Intelligent UI,” alongside the rollout of its GPT-6 models, allowing users to receive answers that combine text with visual and interactive elements directly within conversations.

The feature enables ChatGPT to generate illustrations, diagrams, charts, models and interactive buttons alongside written responses, giving users a more visual and engaging way to access information.

In a blog post, OpenAI said it trained GPT-6 to recognize when interactive elements are more useful than text alone and to determine how those elements should be arranged within an answer.

For example, when asked about designing a seven-speed bicycle, ChatGPT can create an illustration of the bike with interactive buttons that allow users to select different components and view information about them.

Intelligent UI can also be used for educational purposes. When asked to explain Mahjong, for instance, ChatGPT can generate images of the game tiles and organize them into interactive, scrollable groups.

The feature also allows ChatGPT to create interactive tools within conversations, including a retirement savings calculator, classic video games and a bill-splitting tool for multiple people, rather than presenting users with text-based steps or formulas alone.

The launch comes as OpenAI expands access to GPT-6 models in ChatGPT, with GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna becoming available based on users’ subscription plans.

According to OpenAI, GPT-6 delivers improved web-search performance, allowing ChatGPT to provide partial answers more quickly while continuing to gather the requested information. The company also says the model has stronger resistance to attempts to bypass its safety training.

OpenAI has begun rolling out GPT-6 and Intelligent UI globally to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise subscribers. The feature is also set to reach Go and free users starting today.

Subscribers on higher-tier plans will receive GPT-6 Sol, while Go and free users will use the more efficient GPT-6 Luna model.
