Fawry and MNT-Halan Lead Egyptian Fintech Firms in Forbes Middle East 2026 Ranking

Egypt is strengthening its position in the Middle East’s fintech landscape, with Fawry and MNT-Halan emerging as the country’s leading representatives in the Forbes Middle East 2026 ranking of the region’s Top 50 Fintech Companies.

Fawry secured second place in the regional ranking, while MNT-Halan ranked third, placing both Egyptian companies among the leading fintech businesses in the Middle East. Tabby retained the top position for the second consecutive year.

Egypt Ranks Third With 10 Fintech Companies

According to Forbes Middle East, the 2026 list features companies from 10 countries. The UAE led the ranking with 15 companies, followed by Saudi Arabia with 13, while Egypt ranked third with 10 companies included in the list.

The results highlight the expanding role of Egypt’s fintech ecosystem, supported by rising demand for digital payments and technology-driven financial services, a growing user base, and increasing investment in digital financial solutions.

Middle East Fintech Funding Reaches $708 Million

The region’s fintech sector maintained strong momentum during the first half of 2026, despite geopolitical challenges across the Middle East.

Fintech companies attracted approximately $708 million through 51 funding rounds during the period, keeping the sector among the region’s most investment-attractive industries.

Fawry Expands Its Digital Payments Reach

Fawry ranked second in the Forbes Middle East list, supported by the continued expansion of its customer base and growing demand for digital payment services in Egypt.

The company recorded approximately 55.4 million monthly customers as of June 2026, highlighting the increasing adoption of fintech platforms and electronic financial services in the Egyptian market.

Fawry’s position further reinforces its role as one of Egypt’s major fintech and digital payments companies as the country accelerates its transition toward a digital economy and electronic financial transactions.

MNT-Halan Gains Momentum Ahead of Potential IPO

MNT-Halan took third place in the regional ranking, following a funding round led by Al Ahly Capital Holding that raised the company’s valuation to approximately $1.4 billion in June 2026.

The fintech company is also preparing to offer 20% of its shares on the Egyptian Exchange, a move that reflects the growing maturity of Egypt’s fintech companies and their transition from startups toward larger businesses with access to capital markets.

Egypt Strengthens Its Regional Fintech Position

The strong performance of Fawry and MNT-Halan reflects the growing role of Egypt in the regional fintech sector, supported by a broader digital user base, improving digital infrastructure, rising investment, and efforts to promote financial inclusion and accelerate digital transformation.

With 10 Egyptian companies featured among the Middle East’s Top 50 fintech firms, Egypt continues to stand out as an important market for the development of digital financial services across the region.
