Suez Canal Bank Leads Banking Stock Gains on Egypt’s Exchange

Egypt’s banking stocks closed Wednesday’s trading session with mixed performance, as Suez Canal Bank led the sector’s gainers on the Egyptian Exchange.

Suez Canal Bank’s shares rose 1.71% to end the session at EGP 45.91, with trading worth EGP 7.618 million through 164,114 shares.

The Egyptian Gulf Bank ranked second among the sector’s gainers, climbing 1.56% to $0.520. The stock recorded trades worth $1.145 million, with 42,597 shares changing hands.

Al Baraka Bank Egypt came third, advancing 0.64% to EGP 22.160. Trading on the stock reached EGP 5.148 million through 233,733 shares.

Meanwhile, most of the banking stocks tracked in the session ended lower. United Bank recorded the sharpest decline, falling 4.52% to EGP 15.20, with trading worth EGP 1.190 million through 77,881 shares.

Housing and Development Bank dropped 2.48% to EGP 104.35, recording EGP 24.461 million in trading value on 233,402 shares. Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Egypt declined 2.33% to EGP 49, with EGP 70.855 million worth of transactions conducted through 1.439 million shares.

Export Development Bank of Egypt fell 1.78% to EGP 20.92, with EGP 34.479 million in trading value and 1.659 million shares traded.

Commercial International Bank (CIB) declined 1.34% to EGP 126.30, despite recording the sector’s largest trading value at EGP 554.237 million, with 4.395 million shares changing hands.

QNB Egypt shares decreased 1.21% to EGP 58, while Credit Agricole Egypt fell 0.42% to EGP 23.49.

Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt’s shares denominated in Egyptian pounds edged down 0.11% to EGP 43.53, with trading worth EGP 5.861 million through 137,388 shares.

In contrast, Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt’s US dollar-denominated shares closed unchanged at the end of Wednesday’s session.
