Gold Prices in Egypt Fall as Global Market and Dollar Weakness Pressure the Precious Metal
Gold prices in the Egyptian market continued to decline on Thursday, September 24, 2026, amid ongoing downward pressure on the precious metal following yesterday’s losses, as the US dollar weakened against the Egyptian pound.
Gold Prices in Egypt Today
- 24K Gold: EGP 7,114 per gram
- 21K Gold: EGP 6,225 per gram
- 18K Gold: EGP 5,336 per gram
- 14K Gold: EGP 4,150 per gram
- Gold Pound: EGP 49,800
The Egyptian gold market is monitoring movements in global gold prices and the US dollar exchange rate, while also watching whether 21K gold can stabilize at its current levels following the recent decline.
The price of 21K gold, the most widely traded gold category in Egypt, fell to EGP 6,225 per gram after opening Thursday’s trading at EGP 6,260. It also declined from Wednesday’s closing price of EGP 6,300 per gram.
The continued decline came after gold prices failed to break above the EGP 6,300 level on Wednesday, increasing downward pressure and limiting the possibility of a recovery.
Globally, gold prices have also remained under pressure, which has affected the Egyptian market, as international gold prices are one of the key factors determining local gold prices.
Meanwhile, the decline in the US dollar exchange rate at Egyptian banks is adding further pressure to domestic gold prices. A weaker dollar reduces the cost of pricing imported gold in Egyptian pounds, which can affect the final price of gold per gram.
The market is expected to closely monitor global gold prices, movements in the US dollar exchange rate, and the ability of 21K gold to hold its current levels during the remainder of Thursday’s trading session.
