Saudi Arabia and Bahrain Strengthen Research Cooperation Through New Knowledge-Sharing Agreement
Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Special Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Fahd National Library, met in Riyadh with Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, along with his accompanying delegation.
The meeting focused on strengthening scientific and knowledge-based cooperation between the two sides and exploring ways to enhance integration between research institutions and national libraries.
During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the King Fahd National Library and Derasat. The agreement was signed on behalf of the library by Acting CEO Faisal Al-Hamoudi, while Derasat CEO Abdullah Al-Ahmad signed on behalf of the center.
The MoU aims to establish a framework for productive cooperation that supports research and knowledge communities. It covers knowledge and scientific exchange, staff exchanges and professional development, the sharing of information and documents, and reciprocal visits by delegations, professionals and specialists.
The agreement also includes plans to organize seminars, workshops and conferences, as well as develop joint training programs and initiatives.
The MoU builds on ongoing intellectual cooperation between institutions in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, supporting scientific research, historical documentation and knowledge development.
During the meeting, Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa presented Prince Faisal bin Salman with an honorary fellowship from Derasat in recognition of his contributions to supporting knowledge and scientific research and preserving national heritage.
Prince Faisal bin Salman said the MoU represents an extension of the existing partnership with Bahrain in research and studies and serves as an example of institutional integration in preserving, producing and providing access to knowledge.
For his part, Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa expressed his appreciation to Prince Faisal bin Salman for the warm reception, highlighting the King Fahd National Library’s role in preserving and providing access to intellectual and cultural production.
Derasat is an independent specialized center that conducts scientific research and studies in strategic affairs, international politics and energy. It also works with local, regional and international research centers and organizations.
