Chinese solar energy giant LONGi has secured the top global position in solar panel shipments for the first half of 2026, delivering a total capacity of 29.93 gigawatts across international markets. This milestone underscores the company's robust commercial performance and the accelerating global investment in renewable energy infrastructure.

Locally, LONGi announced the Egyptian launch of its latest integrated solar energy storage solution, "LONGi ONE." The system seamlessly combines solar power generation, battery storage, and digital intelligence into a single unified platform.

Fares Anas, North Africa Sales Manager at LONGi, explained that the new storage systems target industrial and commercial sectors, large-scale utility projects, and microgrids. The solution enhances energy efficiency and electrical grid flexibility, boasting operational efficiencies of up to 93.5% and scalable battery capacities ranging from 104 kilowatts up to 6.25 megawatts, making it highly adaptable for various applications.

Strategic Expansion and Local Partnerships

The launch event in Cairo drew participation from over 13 major Egyptian developers and corporate entities—including Orascom and Hassan Allam—alongside government representatives, EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firms, investors, and energy sector leaders.

During the event, LONGi signed multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with local partners, notably Res Tech and Egypta, to solidify its footprint in the domestic market. Anas highlighted Egypt as a critical strategic market given its vast solar potential, rising electricity demand, and expanding renewable investments.

Award-Winning Tech Designed for Harsh Climates

LONGi's solar panels deliver up to 24.8% efficiency and are specifically engineered to withstand Egypt's challenging climatic conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, corrosion, and dust. In recognition of these continuous innovations, LONGi was awarded the "PV Module Technology Leader Award" by Solarabic and Terrapinn during the Solar & Storage Egypt 2026 exhibition.

The deployment of LONGi ONE aligns with Egypt's advanced transition toward a more resilient energy ecosystem. As the country targets a 42% renewable energy contribution by 2030, the market is shifting its focus beyond mere generation capacity toward grid flexibility, advanced energy storage, and smart load management.
